Fineline Crackle Varnish 

→ What It Is
Transparent, two-part crackle finish that creates fine, porcelain-style cracks while allowing underlying layers (paint, paper, transfers) to show through.

→ When to Use It
Use for a porcelain crackle effect on decoupage, transfers, décor projects, or furniture.

→ How to Use It

Preparation
↓
• Ensure the project surface is completely dry.
• If decoupaged, confirm the top glue layer is dry.
• Clean and dry surface thoroughly.
• Use only clean, dry brushes—moisture or residue can ruin the effect.

Step 1: Apply Component 1
↓
• Brush on a smooth coat of Component 1.
• Appears milky white, turns clear when dry.
• Do not overbrush; slight unevenness is fine.
• Allow to dry completely (2–3 hours minimum).
• If still cloudy or tacky, extend drying time.

Step 2: Apply Component 2
↓
• Gently stir (do not shake) Component 2.
• Use a clean, dry brush to apply over dried Component 1.
• Thin layer = fine cracks; thick layer = larger cracks.
• Do not overwork; apply and leave to dry.
• Let dry overnight at room temperature.
• Optional: Use a hair dryer or heat gun (keep moving, not too close) to speed drying or enhance cracking.

Step 3: Highlight Cracks
↓
• Use antique paste, liquid patina, or pigment powders.
• Apply product into cracks.
• Wipe away excess with a clean, dry cloth only.
• Avoid any moisture—water can damage the crackle layer.

Step 4: Seal the Finish
↓
• Wait at least 24 hours before sealing.
• Use solvent-based varnish only (no water-based sealers).
• Recommended: Pentart Clear Varnish (glossy or matte) or Pentart Antique Glossy Varnish.
• Proper sealing stops further cracking and preserves the finish.

• Use a heat gun for more pronounced cracks.
• Once sealed, the crackle effect is permanent.
